Wendy’s is really trying to sell these new natural cut fries with sea salt. These are “naturally-cut from whole Russet potatoes, cooked skin-on, and served hot and crispy with a sprinkle of sea salt for a taste as real as it gets”.
Before I got my coupon for free fries today, I went to Wendy’s to purchase a gift card for you. Upon purchasing that gift card, they gave me…you’ll never guess…a coupon for free fries. I had just bought a 6 pack of (bottled) Diet Pepsi so I decided to make a meal with my free fries (which, by the way, you can order any size you want), a bottle of Pepsi, and a super cheap burger. What did we think of Wendy’s New Natural Cut Fries with Sea Salt?
We have this barbeque place here called Country’s. They serve their drinks out of Mason jars and they have the best natural cut fries. I’m sure they are cut fresh but I have never asked. There is another place called 5 guys where they have a bazillion potatoes all over the place. They actually cut your fries fresh as you order them and fry them up right in front of you. Those are pretty awesome too. I suppose those 2 places are tied for first on natural cut fries. I’m ok with giving Wendy’s second place.
After eating my lunch, going home and cleaning house awhile, I was pooped and decided I didn’t feel like cooking dinner that night. Besides, the hubby was working late and said he wasn’t that hungry. So, the kids and I chose to go to Wendy’s for their dinner. We might eat fast food once a month…maybe twice…so I figured, “What the heck?” This was their first experience with the new fries too. Unfortunately, I think Wendy’s will always be second to the “double arches” to them. They ate everything but the Bear said he would have rather eaten you know where.
I suppose it’s all in what you are craving that day. Do you want thin and super salty fries (my faves are the crunchy little ones at the bottom of the box) or bigger, natural cut fries that aren’t quite as salty? Do you want the Big “M” burger to go with your fries or would you prefer Wendy’s 1/2 lb Double burger with your fries?
